The layout and design of the magazine cover communicate meaning they show this by putting all the cover lines surrounding Sterlings main body this connotes how Sterling is important, his head is even covering some of the text, he also has a smug look on his face plus he has a slight head tilt which connotes to power and strength. People normally associate black with evil and Sterling has black cloths and black wings which connote a angel which represents the cover line and the bible, but he is represented as someone who saved football form itself almost like a hero with opposes the stereotype that all black is evil.
